Going Full Contact with Lauren Kimball

November 18, 2014 Full Contact

Part of a recurring series where we ask a Full Contact employee a couple of off-the-wall (and yet revealing) questions.

EDITOR’S NOTE: As her answer to question #6 will show, Lauren gave us her answers just before she gave birth to an adorable baby boy. To celebrate her return to Full Contact this week, we decided to share her pre-mother-of-two answers. Welcome back, Lauren!

  1. Who are you and what is your role at Full Contact?
Lauren Kimball, Director of Account Management
  1. Speaking of roles, who is your personal role model? (And tell us why)
It’s not a celebrity; it’s not a famous writer or someone known for changing the world. I look up to all the working parents of the world who “do it all.” These are the parents who do whatever they can to support their families, who are kick-ass at their jobs, and who also put being moms and dads to their kids (and making memories with them) above anything else. I want to know how they do it!
  1. What’s the best piece of advice you ever received (and then ignored)?
“Dress for the position you want to have.” You’ve all heard this before, I’m sure. There’s a school of thought that if you want to be a leader, you should dress like one. Believe me, I would never come to work disheveled (and I do think I’m pretty put together)…I’m just not a fan of heels.
  1. If you could magically become anyone else in the world, who would it be and why?
I love my career, and I especially love the industry I work in. I’ve always joked that I wish I were creative. Whether being able to eloquently write copy or have the chance to design something badass, it’d be pretty darn cool to have some sort of creative ability. I’m continually amazed by the creative teams we have at Full Contact – there are always new and fresh ideas brought to the table that are executed flawlessly. If given a creative assignment, I would love to have the ability to knock it out of the park!
  1. And while we are imagining things, what is your Full Contact superpower?
The client whisperer (I’m laughing as I type this). I owe it to my bartending during and after college. As a bartender, you learn how to talk to anyone about anything. I absolutely love my job, because it’s all about relationships. I truly enjoy learning about each of our clients, their businesses, and what it is that makes them tick. And, more importantly, I love discovering who they are outside of work.
  1. We know you do amazing things at Full Contact, but what do you do that’s kind of amazing outside of these four walls?
Raising my daughter while working full time at 9 months pregnant. It ain’t easy. I don’t sleep more than 6 hours each night, have to be “on” all day long at work while using my brain with minimal caffeine, and then need to focus all my attention on my little lady when I get home. I’m no hero. I’m just a mom who currently has a lot on her plate at home and at work. The crazy thing is I wouldn’t trade any of it for the world. I couldn’t be happier with my life at home and at work.
  1. And finally, how do you make Full Contact in your job?
I love getting different people’s perspectives on things – from how to approach a situation with a client to the best way to serve up a recommendation. We have so many brilliant minds at Full Contact, and everyone brings such great experience to the table. I’d be crazy not to tap into it. Hearing how other folks would work through various situations always helps fine-tune my approach. And it only makes me better at my job.
